Amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, has apologised to neighbouring countries that were affected by Iranian missile attacks. However, he made it clear that Tehran will continue to defend itself if any nation launches attacks against Iran.
During a televised address broadcast on Iranian state television, Pezeshkian expressed regret for the damage caused to neighbouring nations but stressed that Iran would not surrender under pressure.
Iran Announces Conditional Halt to Attacks
President Pezeshkian said that Iran’s interim leadership council had decided that no further strikes would be launched against neighbouring countries unless they initiate attacks first.
According to him, Iran’s decision reflects an attempt to reduce tensions in the region while maintaining the country’s right to self-defence.
At the same time, he firmly rejected any suggestion that Iran would back down in the conflict.
Iran–Israel Conflict Escalates
The latest developments come after United States and Israel reportedly conducted coordinated airstrikes on Iranian targets on February 28.
The military operation, called Operation Epic Fury, targeted several Iranian cities including Tehran. Reports claimed that the strikes resulted in the death of Ali Khamenei along with several members of his family.
Following the strikes, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting locations linked to US and Israeli interests across the Gulf region.
Missile and Drone Attacks Across Gulf Countries
Iranian missile strikes reportedly hit several locations in Gulf countries, including:
- Dubai
- Abu Dhabi
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Bahrain
Several key locations were reportedly affected, including areas near Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports.
Missile and drone debris also caused damage to major landmarks such as:
- Palm Jumeirah
- Burj Al Arab
Meanwhile, a drone incident reportedly triggered a fire near the US consulate in Dubai earlier this week.

Saudi Arabia Issues Warning to Iran
Saudi Arabia has warned Iran to avoid further escalation.
Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman stated that the country had intercepted several missile launches and drone attacks targeting key infrastructure, including oil facilities.
Saudi authorities also reported drone strikes targeting the Ras Tanura Refinery, one of the world’s major oil processing hubs.
Rising Tensions in the Middle East
The ongoing conflict has raised fears of a wider regional war across the Middle East. Military strikes, missile launches, and diplomatic tensions continue to escalate as countries in the region increase their defence readiness.
Despite the apology from Iran’s leadership, the situation remains highly volatile, with several countries urging restraint to prevent further escalation.
