Amitabh Bachchan Sells D.P. Wires Shares! Stock Still Down 68%

Amitabh Bachchan Trims Stake in D.P. Wires

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has reduced his investment in small-cap company D.P. Wires Ltd by selling shares worth nearly ₹2.48 crore through a block deal.

The transaction comes as the stock continues to trade almost 68% below its all-time high recorded in November 2023.

Shares Sold Through Block Deal

According to market data, Amitabh Bachchan sold 1,23,622 shares of D.P. Wires at an average price of ₹200.84 per share, taking the total transaction value to approximately ₹2.48 crore.

Interestingly, on the same day, he also purchased 41,566 shares of the company at an average price of ₹199.90 per share, investing nearly ₹83 lakh.

The transactions indicate a partial portfolio adjustment rather than a complete exit from the company.

Big B Continues to Hold Shares

Corporate database AceEquity shows that before the latest transaction, Amitabh Bachchan held a 2.11% stake in D.P. Wires for the last four consecutive quarters.

His total holding stood at 3,27,590 shares before the recent sale.

Even after reducing his position, the actor continues to remain a shareholder in the company, although his overall stake has declined slightly.

Investment Journey Since 2018

Amitabh Bachchan has been a public shareholder in D.P. Wires since the March 2018 quarter.

At that time, he held 3,32,800 shares, representing a 2.45% stake in the company.

His ownership later declined to 1.47% by September 2023 before increasing again after the company issued 1:7 bonus shares in November 2023.

Stock Still Far Below Peak

Although D.P. Wires has gained nearly 22% during the past five trading sessions, the stock remains significantly below its lifetime high.

The shares closed around ₹215.59, compared with the record high of ₹681.45 touched on 17 November 2023, reflecting a decline of nearly 68%.

Despite the recent recovery, the stock has delivered only around 7% returns in 2026 and approximately 44% returns over the past five years.

Weak Financial Performance Behind the Decline

Analysts believe the company’s weak financial performance has weighed heavily on investor sentiment.

For FY2026:

  • Standalone revenue declined to ₹480.11 crore from ₹620.93 crore in FY2025.
  • Net profit fell to ₹17.58 crore, compared with ₹22.20 crore in the previous financial year.

The weaker earnings have contributed to the sharp correction in the company’s share price despite recent buying interest.
