The Karnataka High Court has issued an interim order directing Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to prevent its senate members from conducting proposed inspections related to continuation of college affiliations.
The court said the restriction will remain in place until the next hearing of the case.
Order Passed by Justice ES Indiresh
The directive was issued by E S Indiresh after hearing a petition filed by the Karnataka State Association of Management of Nursing and Allied Health Institutions.
The petition raised concerns about the process being followed for inspections required to continue college affiliations with the university.
Petitioners’ Argument in Court
According to the petitioners, inspections for continuation of affiliation for the academic year 2026–27 onward should be conducted strictly according to:
- Provisions of the RGUHS Act
- University statutes and regulations
- Decisions taken during the 194th (Special) Syndicate Meeting held on December 24, 2024
They argued that any inspection should follow these established guidelines and procedures.
Court’s Interim Direction
After hearing the matter, the court directed the university authorities to restrain senate members from conducting affiliation inspections until further orders are issued.
The matter will be reviewed again during the next scheduled hearing.
