Tata Cars has officially launched the new Tata Aeris in India, introducing a fresh compact sedan aimed at private buyers in the sub-4-metre segment. The new sedan starts at ₹5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and effectively replaces the Tata Tigor in Tata’s private-car lineup. The Aeris gets a substantially redesigned exterior, an updated cabin, a long list of technology and convenience features, and both petrol and CNG powertrain options.
The new model comes at a time when the compact sedan segment continues to include established names such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. Tata has attempted to differentiate the Aeris with a distinctive exterior design, modern cabin layout and a broad equipment list.
According to the launch details, bookings are already open through authorised Tata dealerships and the company’s official website, while deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2026.

The Tata Aeris is priced from ₹5.29 lakh to ₹9.74 lakh, depending on the variant and powertrain. These are introductory ex-showroom Delhi prices.

| Accomplished | ₹8.19 lakh | ₹8.74 lakh | ₹9.19 lakh | ₹9.74 lakh |
The entry price is ₹40,000 lower than the outgoing Tigor’s starting price, according to the launch information. Tata is also maintaining a separate commercial-focused offering: the Xpres continues for fleet buyers, while the Aeris is positioned exclusively for private customers.
Tata Aeris Bookings and Delivery
Bookings for the new sedan are open across authorised Tata dealerships as well as through Tata’s official online platform.
The company is scheduled to begin deliveries of the Aeris from October 11, 2026.
This private-buyer positioning is one of the key changes in Tata’s compact sedan strategy. Fleet customers will continue to have access to the Xpres, while the new Aeris gets a separate identity for individual customers.
Exterior Design Gets a Major Makeover
Compared with the outgoing Tigor, the Tata Aeris features a significantly reworked exterior.
At the front, the sedan gets a slim gloss-black grille positioned between rectangular LED headlamps. The front bumper has a sculpted appearance and incorporates LED fog lamps, giving the sedan a more contemporary appearance.
The side profile retains the distinctive notchback-style roofline, which remains one of the more unusual design elements of the compact sedan. Tata has also introduced newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna and Aeris badging positioned along the lower portion of the front doors.
Another styling element is the addition of wheel-arch cladding, giving the sedan a slightly crossover-inspired appearance.
At the rear, the Aeris gets a relatively high bootlid, roof spoiler and connected LED taillamps. The rear lighting design has similarities with Tata’s Curvv design language. The number plate and reverse lamp are positioned low on the rear bumper.
Overall, the new design represents a substantial visual departure from the Tigor while retaining the compact sedan proportions.
Tata Aeris Colour Options
The new Tata Aeris is available in six exterior colour options:
- Dandeli Drizzle
- Daytona Grey
- Nitro Crimson
- Dune Glow
- Pure Grey
- Pristine White
The colour range includes several distinctive shades, including purple, red and gold-inspired finishes.
Tata is also offering optional dual-tone combinations with a black roof, allowing buyers to give the sedan a more contrasting appearance.
Interior and Cabin
The cabin of the Aeris takes design inspiration from Tata’s recently updated Tiago, but Tata has introduced a lighter beige and cream colour theme to create a more spacious visual impression.
The dashboard features angular design elements along with fabric inserts and a two-spoke steering wheel finished in matte black.
The automatic manual transmission versions also receive paddle shifters, allowing drivers to manually control gear changes when required.
The centre console incorporates rotary climate-control controls, a wireless charging area, phone dock and rotary gear selector. A centre armrest is also available.
For rear passengers, Tata has provided dedicated rear AC vents and a centre armrest with integrated cupholders.
419-Litre Boot Space
Despite its compact dimensions, the Tata Aeris offers a claimed 419-litre boot capacity.
This gives the sedan useful luggage-carrying capability for everyday family use, airport trips and longer journeys.
Features of Tata Aeris
The new Aeris is positioned as a feature-rich compact sedan, with Tata adding several technology and convenience features across the range.
The infotainment system uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It is paired with a six-speaker audio system.
Other notable features include:
- Automatic climate control
- Cruise control
- Wireless phone charger
- Ventilated front seats
- Power-adjustable ORVMs
- Auto-folding ORVMs
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- Keyless entry
- Push-button start/stop
- Drive modes
- Paddle shifters on AMT variants
The feature list gives the Aeris a considerably more modern equipment package than the outgoing Tigor.
Tata Aeris Safety Features
Safety is another major focus of the new sedan.
The Tata Aeris gets six airbags as standard, along with three-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants. Rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points are also included.
Higher variants receive additional safety and driver-assistance equipment, including:
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Hill Hold Assist
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
- Dashcam
- Rollover mitigation
- 360-degree camera
- Blind View Monitor
The exact availability of some equipment depends on the variant.
Tata Aeris Engine and Transmission Options
The new Tata Aeris continues with the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine used by the outgoing Tigor.
The petrol engine produces:
- Power: 86 PS
- Torque: 113 Nm
Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT.
Tata is also offering a factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG system.
Tata Aeris Petrol+CNG Specifications
The CNG version produces:
- Power: 76 PS
- Torque: 97 Nm
- Transmission: 5-speed MT / 5-speed AMT
The Smart variant has a more limited powertrain selection, while higher variants offer greater flexibility between petrol, CNG, manual and AMT configurations.
Petrol or CNG: What Does the Aeris Offer?
One of the important advantages of the Aeris range is that buyers do not have to choose between a petrol-only sedan and a factory CNG model from a separate product line.
The Aeris offers both fuel options within the same model range. The CNG variants are available with Tata’s dual-cylinder setup, while the petrol variants can be paired with either a manual or AMT gearbox depending on the variant.
This gives buyers multiple combinations based on their driving requirements and budget.
Tata Aeris vs Tigor: What’s New?
Although the Aeris is effectively the successor to the Tigor, Tata has made changes beyond simply updating the existing sedan.
The most visible difference is the exterior styling. The Aeris features new lighting, revised bumpers, a redesigned grille, new alloy wheels, wheel-arch cladding and a redesigned rear section.
The cabin has also received an update with a lighter colour scheme and a more modern feature package.
However, the basic powertrain philosophy remains familiar. The new sedan continues with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and factory-fitted CNG option, with manual and AMT transmissions available depending on the variant.
Aeris Positioned Exclusively for Private Buyers
One notable aspect of the launch is Tata’s decision to separate its private and fleet sedan offerings.
The Aeris is intended for private buyers, while fleet customers will continue to get the Tata Xpres. This approach allows Tata to give the new sedan a more consumer-focused positioning rather than simultaneously targeting commercial fleet operators.
The Tigor name therefore continues to have a role in Tata’s commercial-oriented sedan portfolio through the Xpres, even as the Aeris takes over the private-car space.
Tata Aeris Rivals
The new Tata Aeris enters the sub-4-metre sedan segment alongside established competitors such as:
- Maruti Suzuki Dzire
- Hyundai Aura
- Honda Amaze
The Dzire has a strong presence in the compact sedan category, while the Hyundai Aura offers petrol and CNG options. The Honda Amaze occupies a more premium position in the segment and is known for its larger-cabin feel and feature package.
With a starting price of ₹5.29 lakh, the Aeris enters the segment with a relatively low introductory price while offering petrol, CNG, manual and AMT combinations across its range.
What Makes the Tata Aeris Different?
Tata has taken a somewhat different approach with the Aeris rather than simply producing a conventional-looking compact sedan.
Its design combines the traditional three-box sedan format with a notchback roofline, connected rear lighting, wheel-arch cladding and a distinctive colour palette.
Inside, the car focuses on technology and convenience, with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, ventilated seats and a digital-heavy equipment package.
The availability of CNG and AMT options also gives buyers greater flexibility.
