The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. According to the report provided by NDTV, MLA Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea, Rhea Chakraborty and Sooraj Pancholi are among the people named in the FIR.
The development comes nearly two weeks after the Bombay High Court directed the central agency to take over the investigation into Salian’s death.
The FIR includes sections relating to murder, gang rape, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and providing false information. Importantly, being named in an FIR or being listed as a person whose role requires investigation does not by itself establish guilt. The allegations remain subject to investigation and due legal process.

The CBI FIR, as quoted in the report, says that former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and others allegedly played a significant role in a conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. It also says that the roles of concerned public servants and police officers require investigation over alleged destruction or suppression of records, fabrication of official records and alleged misuse of public resources.
Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, and doctors and staff connected with the delayed post-mortem have been listed among people whose roles require investigation, according to the FIR cited in the report.
Earlier, the CBI had sought documents and records related to Disha Salian’s death from the police to facilitate its investigation.
Disha Salian was found dead on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Her death occurred days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence. Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in Salian’s case.
Salian’s father, Satish Salian, recently recorded his statement before the CBI. He has alleged that several people, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray, were involved in an alleged conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. These are allegations and will have to be tested during the investigation.
The Bombay High Court’s September 2 order for a CBI probe followed a petition filed by Satish Salian, who alleged lapses in the Mumbai Police investigation.

The High Court criticised aspects of the investigation, observing that the probe raised more questions than answers and pointing to what it described as glaring discrepancies. The court also noted that copies of the post-mortem report and ADR had not been provided to Salian’s family even after several years.
Police had earlier concluded after an inquiry that Disha Salian’s death was a case of suicide. Her father later approached the High Court alleging that she had been gang-raped and murdered.
The CBI investigation is now expected to examine the available records, statements, forensic and medical material and other evidence before reaching conclusions about the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.
