A late-night municipal action in Narsampet, Telangana, has triggered a political controversy after authorities demolished the plinth built for installing a statue of late former MLA and Telangana activist Peddhi Sudarshan Reddy.
The incident took place in the Sarvapuram outskirts of Narsampet, opposite the government medical college. According to the information available, BRS leader Dr. Lekka Vidyasagar Reddy had performed a Bhoomi Pujan about a week ago and started construction of the statue on his private land.
Statue Unveiling Was Being Planned
The BRS leadership was reportedly preparing to organize a grand unveiling ceremony, with K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) and former minister T. Harish Rao expected to attend the event.
However, before the planned ceremony could take place, municipal officials reportedly demolished the statue plinth during the night.
Officials are understood to have cited the absence of the required prior permissions for the construction. The issue has now become a major point of political debate in the town.
BRS Leaders Express Anger
BRS leaders and supporters strongly objected to the demolition. They said Peddhi Sudarshan Reddy had made significant contributions to the Telangana movement and to the development of the Narsampet region.
According to BRS supporters, his role in securing the government medical college for Narsampet was significant. They said the statue was being installed as a mark of respect for his contribution.
The BRS camp has alleged that the municipal action was politically motivated and questioned why the structure was demolished at night without adequate prior notice.
Late-Night Demolition Raises Questions
The demolition has intensified the political atmosphere in Narsampet. BRS leaders have argued that if there were violations related to construction permissions, the authorities should have followed the appropriate procedure and issued notice before taking action.

Errabelli Dayakar Rao Warns Congress Leaders
Former minister and BRS leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao has also reportedly reacted strongly to the incident and warned Congress leaders over the demolition.
The controversy has added another flashpoint to the ongoing political rivalry between the BRS and Congress in Telangana.
The fact that the demolition took place ahead of KTR’s proposed visit to Narsampet has further intensified political speculation surrounding the incident.
