The Sunshine Pictures IPO witnessed a massive surge in investor demand on the second day of bidding, with the public issue getting subscribed 18.47 times as of August 19, 2026.

The response improved sharply from 4.33 times subscription on Day 1, driven by strong participation from Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) and retail investors. The IPO will close for subscription on August 20, 2026, making the final-day response from institutional investors a key factor to watch.

The public issue received bids for 10,13,11,123 shares against 54,86,051 shares offered for subscription.

The subscription data shows that demand was strongest among NIIs, while retail investors also participated aggressively. However, the response from Qualified Institutional Buyers remained comparatively muted.

🚀 NII Category Leads the Subscription Rally

The Non-Institutional Investor category emerged as the biggest driver of demand on Day 2, with the portion subscribed 35.59 times.

Within the NII segment, the category for applications below ₹10 lakh recorded an impressive 48.63 times subscription. The portion for applications above ₹10 lakh was subscribed 29.07 times.

Strong individual participation in both categories contributed significantly to the overall subscription numbers.

👥 Retail Investors Push Subscription to 21.60x

Retail investors also showed strong interest in the Sunshine Pictures IPO.

The retail portion was subscribed 21.60 times, compared with 5.98 times on the first day. The category received bids for 5,92,47,788 shares against 27,43,023 shares reserved for retail investors.

A large share of the applications was submitted at the cut-off price, reflecting strong demand from individual investors.

🏦 QIB Participation Remains Low

The response from Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) remained relatively weak on the second day.

The QIB category was subscribed 0.14 times, improving only slightly from 0.03 times on Day 1.

Mutual funds recorded bids for 2,788 shares, while the “Others” category accounted for 2,16,111 shares. Foreign institutional participation remained limited, with bids for 3,936 shares.

Institutional demand will be closely watched on the final day, as QIB investors often submit a significant portion of their bids closer to the IPO closing deadline.

📅 Sunshine Pictures IPO Closes Today

The Sunshine Pictures IPO is scheduled to close on August 20, 2026.

With the issue already subscribed more than 18 times, the final subscription figure will depend on the additional demand received across investor categories during the closing session.

The biggest point of interest will be whether QIB participation sees a significant jump before the bidding window closes.

⚠️ SBI Securities Maintains ‘Avoid’ Recommendation

Despite the strong subscription figures, SBI Securities has maintained an “Avoid” recommendation on the Sunshine Pictures IPO.

The brokerage has highlighted concerns regarding the company’s financial performance and valuation. According to its assessment, Sunshine Pictures recorded a negative CAGR of 25.4% between FY24 and FY26.

SBI Securities also noted that the issue is valued at around 27.8 times FY26 post-issue earnings. The brokerage believes that the company’s future business performance remains heavily dependent on the commercial success and box office performance of its projects.

🔎 What Investors Should Watch

The final subscription numbers will now be closely tracked, particularly the response from QIB investors.

Retail and NII demand has already been strong, but a sharp increase in institutional participation on the closing day could further change the overall subscription picture.

Investors will also be watching the next stages of the IPO process, including share allotment and stock market listing developments.
