The much-awaited film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is set for a grand theatrical release on March 19, 2026, with special paid preview screenings already scheduled for today. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie is being projected as a major cinematic event. Before the sequel hits screens, here’s a quick recap of the first installment, ‘Dhurandhar’, and what audiences can expect next.

Recap of ‘Dhurandhar’

The story of Dhurandhar revolves around a covert intelligence mission conceived by Ajay Sanyal, portrayed by R. Madhavan. Following major terror incidents like the IC-814 hijacking (1999) and the 2001 Parliament attack, Sanyal initiates a long-term espionage strategy named Operation Dhurandhar.

Under this mission, Indian agents are trained to infiltrate hostile networks across the border. A key recruit is Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a death-row convict who is transformed into a deep-cover operative. He assumes a new identity—Hamza Ali Mazari, blending into Pakistan’s Lyari region under the guise of a Balochi local.

Hamza gradually infiltrates a powerful criminal network led by Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna), a feared gang leader aiming to dominate Lyari. With assistance from a local informer, Mohammed Aalam, and strategic alliances with political figure Jameel Jamali, Hamza strengthens his position within the network.

To maintain his cover, he even marries Jamali’s daughter, Yalina. During his mission, Hamza uncovers critical intelligence, including the involvement of ISI officer Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal) in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Despite sharing warnings, the attacks could not be prevented, pushing Hamza to accelerate his plan. Eventually, with the help of allies like SP Chaudhary Aslam, he eliminates Rehman Dakait in a calculated operation—marking a turning point in the story and ending the first film on a powerful note.

What to Expect in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’

The sequel is expected to dive deeper into the origins of Jaskirat Singh Rangi and his transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari. Viewers will likely witness his complete rise to power, earning the title “Sher-E-Baloch.”

The film is also anticipated to feature an intense face-off between Hamza and Major Iqbal, which could serve as the central climax. Based on early glimpses from the trailer, the sequel promises high-stakes action, emotional depth, and a more expansive narrative.
