Auqib Nabi Finally Makes India Debut
The long wait is over for Auqib Nabi Dar. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer has made his India ODI debut in the second match of the three-game series against West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Nabi received his maiden ODI cap from KL Rahul before the match, marking a significant milestone in his career. India have made one change to their playing XI, with Nabi replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The 29-year-old pacer had been part of India’s wider plans after impressive performances in domestic cricket and now gets his opportunity at international level.
India Win Toss and Choose to Bowl
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first against West Indies.
Gill indicated that there was some grass and patchiness on the surface and said the conditions could offer something to the fast bowlers early in the innings.
India currently lead the three-match ODI series 1-0, having won the opening match in Thiruvananthapuram by eight wickets.
A victory in Guwahati would give India the series with one match still to play.
One Change for India
Auqib Nabi is the only change in India’s playing XI.
Nabi comes into the side in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy, giving the Jammu and Kashmir pacer his first opportunity to represent India in an ODI.

West Indies will now look to level the series in Guwahati, while India are aiming to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Auqib Nabi’s Big Opportunity
Nabi’s debut adds another important storyline to the second ODI.
The Jammu and Kashmir pacer has earned recognition through domestic cricket and was included in India’s ODI squad for the West Indies series. His debut also means India have introduced a new player in each of the first two matches of the series, with Naman Dhir making his ODI debut in the opening game.
His first international outing will be closely watched as India assess their bowling combinations ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup cycle.
