Monsoon Advances, Rainfall Activity to Intensify Across India
The southwest monsoon is picking up pace once again, bringing widespread rainfall across several parts of the country. According to the latest weather forecast, more than 20 states are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on June 25, offering relief from the ongoing summer heat.
Cloudy skies, thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely in several northern and central Indian states.
Delhi, UP Among States Likely to Receive Rain
The weather department has predicted cloudy conditions with scattered rainfall in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
Some areas may also experience:
- Thunderstorms
- Lightning
- Dust storms
- Gusty winds
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during periods of intense weather activity.
Monsoon Set to Expand Further
Meteorologists say conditions remain favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance over additional regions during the next few days.
Over the next 2 to 3 days, the monsoon is expected to cover more parts of:
- Gujarat
- Maharashtra
- Madhya Pradesh
- Chhattisgarh
- North Arabian Sea
During the following 3 to 4 days, it is likely to spread across the remaining parts of:
- Bihar
- Jharkhand
- Uttar Pradesh
Weather Systems Fueling Rainfall
The current spell of rainfall is being supported by multiple active weather systems.
A trough at sea level extends from Rajasthan to Gangetic West Bengal, passing through Madhya Pradesh, southern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Additionally, cyclonic circulations over northeast Bangladesh, central Assam and the north Bay of Bengal are strengthening monsoon activity across eastern and northeastern India.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely over:
- Konkan & Goa
- Coastal Karnataka
- Madhya Maharashtra
- Vidarbha
- Odisha
- Chhattisgarh
- Madhya Pradesh
- Kerala
- Himachal Pradesh
- Uttarakhand
Meanwhile, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh may witness scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms and dust storms.
Relief From Heat Expected
The fresh spell of monsoon showers is expected to bring down daytime temperatures across several regions that have been experiencing hot and humid weather over the past few days.
Weather officials have advised people to keep track of local forecasts, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall, waterlogging and thunderstorms.
