❤️ Bollywood actor Bobby Deol recently shared some deeply personal memories about his father, legendary actor Dharmendra, during an appearance on the popular TV show Aap Ki Adalat.
The actor became emotional while recalling his childhood and the special bond he shared with his father, revealing that he slept in his parents’ room until the age of 14.
👨👦 A Childhood Filled With Love
Bobby fondly remembered waiting late into the night for Dharmendra to return home from film shoots.
🎬 During the peak of his career, Dharmendra often worked multiple shifts a day and returned home very late. Despite his hectic schedule, Bobby says his father always made him feel loved and protected.
“When I was sick, my father would hold me close and fall asleep beside me. The comfort I felt at that moment was something truly special,” Bobby recalled.
🎃 The Story Behind ‘Kaddoo’
One of the sweetest stories Bobby shared was about his childhood nickname.
😊 According to Bobby, Dharmendra lovingly called him “Kaddoo” because he was a chubby child with round cheeks.
During a visit to a farm, young Bobby pointed at a pumpkin and asked his father what it was called. Dharmendra replied, “Kaddoo,” and the nickname stayed with him ever since.
💡 A Habit That Continued After Marriage
Bobby also revealed an interesting habit he inherited from his father.
🌙 Dharmendra preferred sleeping with a small light on in the room. Since Bobby spent 14 years sleeping beside him, he developed the same habit.
The actor jokingly revealed that after marrying Tanya Deol, the couple often argued because he insisted on keeping a light on while sleeping.
😂 “Now she’s gotten used to it,” Bobby said with a smile.
🎭 Why Bobby Wanted To Become A Hero
Bobby shared that he knew from a very young age that he wanted to become an actor.
As a child, when his teacher asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, Bobby immediately replied, “I want to be a hero.”
The inspiration came after visiting film sets with his father.
🌟 Seeing the immense love and respect fans had for Dharmendra convinced Bobby that he wanted to experience that same connection with audiences.
🎬 His First Film Was With Dharmendra
Bobby made his acting debut as a child artist in the classic film Dharam Veer, where he played the younger version of Dharmendra’s character.
He recalled how excited he was when his father offered him the role.
After completing the shoot, Bobby even asked about his payment. Dharmendra handed him a bundle of ₹10,000 and asked him to give it to his grandmother for distribution among the household staff.
❤️ ‘There Can Never Be Anyone Like My Father’
Perhaps the most emotional moment came when Bobby reflected on how his acting journey began and ended with his father.
🎙️ Bobby revealed that his first appearance on screen was as young Dharmendra, and in one of Dharmendra’s later projects, the younger version of the veteran actor was voiced by Bobby himself.
For the actor, this full-circle moment remains one of the most special experiences of his life.
❤️ Summing up his feelings, Bobby simply said:
“There can never be anyone like my father.”
