Royal Challengers Bengaluru scripted another dominant chapter in their Women’s Premier League 2026 campaign as they became the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs. A calm and calculated batting effort, followed by a sharp bowling display, proved too strong for the Giants.

Batting at No. 4, Gautami played a crucial anchoring role in the middle order. She stitched together a vital 60-run partnership with skipper Smriti Mandhana, stabilising the innings after early pressure. Later, Gautami added further momentum with a 69-run stand alongside Richa Ghosh, allowing RCB to post a competitive total built on consistency rather than risk.

While Smriti provided fluency at the top, Richa’s aggressive intent in the latter half ensured RCB finished strongly. The batting unit showed maturity, rotating strike effectively and punishing loose deliveries at key moments.

Defending the target, RCB’s bowlers delivered a disciplined and incisive performance. Medium-pacer Sayali emerged as the standout, claiming three crucial wickets to derail the Giants’ chase. She was well supported by de Klerk, whose timely breakthroughs further tightened the screws.

Giants’ hopes rested largely on Ashleigh Gardner, who once again showcased her all-round brilliance with contributions both with the bat and ball. However, a lack of support from the rest of the lineup meant her efforts fell short against a well-rounded RCB side.

With this comprehensive victory, Royal Challengers Bengaluru not only strengthened their position at the top of the table but also sent a strong message ahead of the knockout stage. Their balanced squad performance underlines why they remain one of the top contenders for the WPL 2026 title.
