The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards unfolded Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, marking a glittering start to the 2026 awards season with major wins across film, television, and podcasts. Hosted once again by comedian Nikki Glaser, the ceremony celebrated excellence in both Hollywood and global storytelling.

Top Film Winners

The night’s top honors in motion pictures went to two standout films:

• Best Motion Picture – Drama: Hamnet — A dramatic adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed novel, Hamnet won the top drama prize and also earned Jessie Buckley Best Actress for her performance.

• Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy: One Battle After Another — Paul Thomas Anderson’s expansive tale dominated the comedy/musical categories, receiving multiple trophies including Best Director and Best Screenplay.

In acting categories, Wagner Moura was named Best Actor in a Drama for The Secret Agent, while Timothée Chalamet took Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme and Rose Byrne won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

The animated feature KPop Demon Hunters secured the win for Best Animated Film along with Best Original Song.

Television Triumphs

On the small screen, awards were split among some of the year’s most talked-about series:

  • Best Drama Series: The Pitt — acclaimed for its intense storytelling and strong performances.
  • Best Comedy or Musical Series: The Studio — Apple TV’s sharp satire on Hollywood culture.
  • Best Limited Series: Adolescence — Netflix’s breakout narrative also led multiple acting wins.

Acting honors in television featured standout performances from notable stars, with the series Adolescence and The Pitt both receiving widespread acclaim.

New Podcast Category and Special Honors

For the first time in its history, the Golden Globes introduced a Best Podcast category to recognize excellence in audio storytelling. Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang took the inaugural award, highlighting the event’s expansion into new media.

In addition to competitive prizes, honorary awards went to industry icons celebrating decades of outstanding contributions in film and television.

Red Carpet and Highlights

The red carpet brought a wave of glamour from Hollywood’s biggest names, with standout fashion and memorable entrances setting the tone for the evening. Host Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue combined sharp wit with industry commentary, keeping the celebration lively and engaging.

Looking Ahead

With its major wins and high-profile moments, the 83rd Golden Globe Awards continue to influence the trajectory of the 2026 awards season, spotlighting films and series that could lead toward upcoming honors such as the Academy Awards later this year.
