Indian cricket superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are all set to make a much-anticipated return to domestic one-day cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season. The two legends will represent their home teams — Kohli for Delhi and Rohit for Mumbai — as the tournament gets underway on December 24 (Wednesday).

Delhi will kick off their campaign against Andhra, while Mumbai are scheduled to face Sikkim in their opening match. With both Indian icons back in action, the tournament has already created massive buzz among cricket fans across the country.

Originally, Delhi’s clash against Andhra was supposed to take place at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, in a last-minute development, the venue was changed to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). The Karnataka state authorities opted to make the match a closed-door fixture, citing security concerns due to the presence of high-profile players and anticipated crowd congestion.

This move means that fans will not be allowed inside the stadium, though the match will still go ahead as planned under strict security arrangements.

The return of Kohli and Rohit to domestic cricket is being viewed as a major boost for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Their participation not only raises the competitive level of the tournament but also provides young players an opportunity to test themselves against two of the greatest cricketers of the modern era.

With both Delhi and Mumbai eager to start their campaigns strongly, all eyes will be on how these Indian batting icons perform as they step back into domestic colours once again.
