giants vs indians

In a high-voltage Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 encounter, Mumbai Indians Women defeated Gujarat Giants Women in a dominating performance, continuing their strong run in the tournament. The match was played in front of a packed stadium with fans witnessing an exciting contest between two powerful teams.

Mumbai Indians, led by their star players, showcased a brilliant all-round performance with both bat and ball. Gujarat Giants struggled to keep up with the aggressive batting and disciplined bowling of Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Amanjot Kaur delivered another composed and impactful performance, scoring a brilliant 40 off just 26 balls after being promoted to No. 3. Speaking at the post-match press conference, the rising star opened up about batting with Harmanpreet Kaur, her evolving role as a finisher, and her journey so far.

Here are the key highlights from her interaction 👇

🔝 On Batting at No. 3

Amanjot revealed that her promotion was sudden but she was more than ready.

“Unfortunately Nat had food poisoning and had to miss out. I was asked if I wanted to bat at number three and I was happy to bat wherever the team needed me.”

This showed her team-first mindset and adaptability.

🧠 Mindset While Chasing a Big Target

With a big total to chase and an early wicket falling, Amanjot explained the plan:

“With Hayley, the discussion was to capitalize on the powerplay. When Harmanpreet di came in, we discussed that I would go after the bad balls. Since it was a big total, one of us had to stay till the end – and she did.”

That clarity helped Mumbai Indians keep the chase under control.

👑 Batting with Harmanpreet Kaur

Amanjot’s admiration for Harmanpreet Kaur was clear and heartfelt.

“We are all blessed that we are able to witness the Harmanpreet Kaur era. As long as she is on the ground, nobody feels like switching off for even a second.”

She added that batting with Harmanpreet takes away pressure:

“You don’t feel pressure while batting with her. I knew she would take care of the boundaries. When she hits the middle of the bat, you don’t even have to look – it’s a six.”

💙 How Mumbai Indians Shaped Her as a Finisher

Amanjot revealed that her transformation from an opener in domestic cricket to a finisher for MI has been a big journey.

“MI has played a huge role in my evolution. I had never batted at number eight before. The coaches explained what they expect from me. I knew I would get only 10–15 balls and I had to make an impact.”

She credited the MI setup for helping her understand and master this role.

🎯 Working on Her Bowling

With legends like Jhulan Goswami and Shabnim Ismail around, Amanjot knows she’s in the perfect learning environment.

“You can never stop learning in cricket. You have to prove every day why you are here. I am working on my bowling and trying to be consistent.”

🇮🇳 What She Wants to Do for Team India

Amanjot summed up her philosophy simply:

“I try to make an impact in any way I can – batting, bowling or fielding. One ball, one over, or just on the field – I want to do everything for my team.”

🌟 A Rising Star in the Harmanpreet Era

With her fearless batting, growing bowling skills, and calm temperament, Amanjot Kaur is fast becoming one of India’s most exciting all-rounders — and under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, she looks set for a bright future.
