New Renault Duster Set for India Debut Tomorrow: 4 Key Things It Must Get Right

The all-new Renault Duster is set to be unveiled in India tomorrow, with its market launch expected before the end of the current financial year. This SUV is widely regarded as the most important product for Renault in India since the brand entered the country nearly two decades ago, and its success could define the company’s future here.
While the global-spec Duster has already been revealed and its sibling from Dacia has been driven internationally, the India-spec Renault Duster will enter one of the most competitive SUV segments in the country. To succeed against strong rivals, Renault will need to ensure the Duster delivers on several critical fronts.
Here are four key things Renault must get right to make the new Duster a success in India:
1️⃣ Feature-Rich Interior to Match Segment Leaders

In the midsize SUV segment, Hyundai Creta has long been the benchmark when it comes to features and cabin tech. To compete effectively, the new Duster must offer a comprehensive feature list, including:
- Connected car technology
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered front seats
- Full LED lighting package
- Dual digital displays (instrument cluster + infotainment)
- Powered tailgate
Without matching these comfort and convenience features, the Duster could struggle to attract urban buyers.
2️⃣ Level 2 ADAS Across Multiple Variants

Advanced driver assistance systems have now become an expectation rather than a luxury in this segment. While Level 2 ADAS is essential, Renault must go a step further by offering:
- Rear cross-traffic alerts
- Blind-spot monitoring
- GPS-linked ADAS functions (similar to those on the Creta Electric)
Crucially, ADAS availability on multiple trims, not just the top variant, could give Renault a strong competitive edge.
3️⃣ Multiple Powertrain Options

Renault has confirmed it will not return to diesel powertrains in India. However, offering diverse petrol-based options is vital to attract a wider audience.
The new Duster is expected to launch with a turbo-petrol engine, followed by a hybrid powertrain later in the year. This staggered approach could help Renault cater to both performance-focused buyers and those prioritising fuel efficiency.
4️⃣ Aggressive Sub-₹11 Lakh Entry Price
Pricing will play a decisive role in the Duster’s success. Given its size and positioning, Renault is expected to price the SUV below ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant.
Such pricing would place it among premium sub-compact SUVs while offering the space and road presence of a larger midsize SUV. With no diesel option, the top-end variant is expected to stay under ₹20 lakh on-road, making it a strong value proposition.

The new Renault Duster is not just another launch—it is central to Renault’s long-term India plans. The SUV will be followed by the upcoming Nissan Tekton, and later, a three-row SUV expected towards the end of 2026.
With the right mix of features, safety, powertrain options, and competitive pricing, the Duster has the potential to reignite Renault’s fortunes in India.
Renault Duster (Expected)
- Price: ₹10.00 – ₹18.00 lakh
- Segment: Midsize SUV
