rajasaab review: Box Office Day 1Prabhas Film Opens Big with ₹12 Cr, Slows Down Dhurandhar

Prabhas has returned to the big screen with ‘The Raja Saab’, and the film has started its theatrical journey on a strong note. The much-awaited romantic horror-comedy opened in cinemas worldwide today and witnessed heavy footfall during early shows, especially in South Indian states.

The film, which stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani and Zarina Wahab alongside Prabhas, has released in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and English, ensuring a wide reach across India and overseas markets.

📈 Strong Advance Booking and Pre-Sales

Despite a slightly delayed advance booking window and missing out on a major market like Telangana initially, The Raja Saab managed to build impressive momentum ahead of release.
The movie recorded over ₹50 crore in worldwide pre-sales for its opening day, which is a remarkable number for a genre film.

Andhra Pradesh emerged as a key contributor, where premiere shows alone added more than ₹10 crore. Overseas territories also showed solid interest, bringing in nearly ₹22 crore through advance bookings and early screenings.

💰 Day 1 Collection So Far

According to early trade estimates, The Raja Saab had earned around ₹12.27 crore in India by the afternoon on Day 1. With evening and night shows yet to be fully accounted for, industry experts expect the total to rise significantly by the end of the day.

Cinema halls across several cities reported packed shows in the morning as Prabhas fans turned up in large numbers to catch the first-day-first-show.

🎭 Mixed Reviews, But Strong Fan Support

The initial response to The Raja Saab has been mixed. While a section of the audience is enjoying its unique blend of romance, horror and comedy, others have expressed disappointment over certain aspects of the storytelling.
However, strong fan loyalty towards Prabhas and curiosity around the film’s genre have helped it secure a promising opening.

📉 Dhurandhar Sees a Slowdown

The release of The Raja Saab has had an immediate impact on the box office performance of ‘Dhurandhar’, which had been ruling cinemas for the past five weeks.
By the same time on Friday, Dhurandhar collected only around ₹69 lakh, indicating a clear dip in numbers.

Another release, the Hindi-dubbed version of the Gujarati film ‘Laalo’, has entered the race but is playing in limited theatres and is unlikely to significantly affect either of the two big films.

🔮 Weekend Will Decide the Final Verdict

The upcoming weekend will be crucial for The Raja Saab. If positive word of mouth picks up and collections grow over Saturday and Sunday, the film could emerge as a box office success. However, negative reviews could also slow down its momentum.

For now, Prabhas has secured a solid opening, and all eyes are on how the numbers shape up over the next few days.
